Animated
Cartoons are either drawn by hand or designed on a computer. The
first animated cartoons began in 1908, with the release of
“Fantasmagorie”, by a french director called Emile Cohl.
One of the first successful animated cartoons however, was
“Gertie, The Dinosaur”. From the 3rd to the 6th decade of the 20th
century, animated cartoons were used often as 5-10 minute
theatrical cartoons, shown before movies.
Then in the 60's TV’s had made their way into most American
homes, and with that began the decline of theatrical cartoons and
their release mostly for TV.
Just like the movies, animated cartoons were initially silent,
but that changed with My Kentucky Home in 1926.
Another advance in animated cartoon history was the release of
the first fully colored cartoon, named “Flowers and Trees” in 1931
by Disney. In 1937 Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"
became the first full length feature cartoon film in color.
